Interview with Pino Violante: Palma Beach's Le Corbusier

by Palma Beach

Pino Violante

Born in Matera, in southern Italy, a city that lies on the same latitude as Mallorca.

Where do you find your inspiration?

I'm not going to be very original and answer with the words of Pablo Picasso “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” I indeed find it working.

Which project would you like to do if you had no limits?

I am very lucky and Mallorca has given me almost everything at a profesional level, even the first 5 stars of the Playa de Palma starting the transformation of this area that now has several hotels of the highest category.

An architect you admire?

Le Corbusier

A building?

Santa Maria del Fiore, and in particular of this monument the CUPULA of Filippo Brunelleschi.

Hobbies?

Golf, olympic pistol shooting and nautical activities.

Your favourite dish?

Local fish and seafood on the grill.

Your ideal cocktail?

Gin Tonic, of Seagrams and Schweppes in a balloon glass, with a lot of ice and half the dose of gin.

What do you love most about the Playa de Palma?

Begoña my wife who was born here ! I guess you were looking for another answer...I think it has a lot of charm because residents live together with tourists and workers, and near a frontline with houses, shops, restaurants and hotels...

What is your vision of Playa de Palma 10 years from now?

The chosen path is the right one: to let it develop naturally, improving the infrastructure and promoting private initiatives. I believe that in ten years the improvements will surely be very evident. As we say; this painting will never be finished…
